Why Volunteer with OVLL?
Little League is a volunteer based organization, focusing on building future leaders, increasing confidence and providing the foundation to build strong relationships. Little League is more than just baseball and softball- it's a community built on the love of the game and the dedication provided by each of our volunteers to give each of our young athletes a place to express themselves in a fun, safe and positive environment. Our volunteers are the heart of our league.
Who Can Volunteer?
Anyone can be a volunteer for our Little League. We love seeing parents, grandparents, former players, and family members out there supporting our young athletes.
There are no special skills required to volunteer- just a love for the game, a willingness to help and care about the kids.
Some days will be rough, but the smiles on each one of those kids faces is what we volunteer for.
All Volunteers MUST complete and PASS a background check through Little League International.
How to Sign Up:
1. Register as a volunteer on Sports Connect.
2. Submit your information for a background check.
3. Training provided as needed.
Ways To Volunteer:
Team Manager/Coach: Basic knowledge of the game, time and patience are required for this position. As a coach you will communicate with the parents your teams schedule for the season and any changes that may occur. This position has the most interaction with our young athletes and it is imperative that you understand the goals and virtues of the Little League program. Each of your young athletes will look to you for instruction, behavior, sportsmanship, and values of the sport.
Team Coordinator: As the team coordinator you will be assisting the team manager and coaches with the little things during practices and games. These can include managing the snack lists, coordinating the end of season party, communicating with parents during games. Being a team coordinator is an important role as it helps the coaches focus on coaching.
Field Maintenance: At OVLL our field maintenance crew maintains our fields that your child plays on. We can always use more volunteers to join this committee to help in assisting our Facilities Manager and Field Maintenance Officer to keep our fields beautiful. This may include mowing grass, minor repairs, watering/raking the fields, lining the fields, and clean-up.
Concession Stand: Concessions is solely dependent on volunteers and their support. As a volunteer for concessions we only request for 1hr per season to help keep our concession running. This may include handing out food, stocking, clean up, and minimal dish washing.
